One day I was sweeping in front of an apartment building. After I cleaned, I noticed the neighbors didn’t clean the front of their building so trash and debris could blow in and make the area I cleaned dirty. This made me think about how a person can begin pursuing Jesus and cleaning up their life, yet become defiled again by the people who they keep around.

If you are trying to live for Jesus, you have to be careful about the people you allow close to you. For example, at times Christians will keep their worldly friends thinking they can help them become saved, but rather than their friends getting saved the Christian ends up compromising in their walk with God.

The Bible says in Matthew 5:29: If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. (NIV) What Jesus meant in this verse is, if anything in our lives causes us to sin we should remove it. It would be better to do without that thing than to keep it in our lives and go to hell because of the sin it caused.

If you’re having trouble pulling away from ungodly relationships, pray for God to help remove them from your life. It’s not worth compromising your relationship with Jesus!

1 Corinthians 15:33 NIV
Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”

2 Corinthians 6:14-15 NIV
Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?

God bless you
