What is the occult?
The occult includes any spiritual practices outside of the Christian faith—practices that go against the Word of God.
Being involved with the occult even slightly creates spiritual ties between you and demons called covenants, and these ties must be broken after beginning a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Examples of occult practices:
- Witchcraft (casting spells, potions)
- Manifesting
- The law of attraction
- Using items like crystals, charms, and herbs for “protection,” to find out information or attract a desire
- Meditation
- Yoga
- Chakras/the “third eye”
- Fortune telling (using tarot cards, palm reading, or crystal balls)
- Astrology/horoscopes
- Using ouija boards
- Talking to the dead
- Calling on spirit guides or speaking to any spirit other than the Holy Spirit
- Freemasonry
- Santeria
- Praying to the Virgin Mary or other Catholic saints
The Bible says:
Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. (Deuteronomy 18:10-11 NIV)
Jesus wants to set you free from these practices and all demonic spiritual ties that you’ve created in your life.
If you would like to have a relationship with Jesus Christ and break free from the occult, you can do so by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and praying the prayers below.
To begin a relationship with Jesus Christ, pray this prayer out loud:
Lord Jesus,
I believe you died and rose.
I confess with my mouth without anyone forcing me, that I am saved.
Remove my name from the book of death, write my name in the book of life.
Amen
Once you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you can pray the following prayer to break any ties with the occult:
Any demonic covenants that were made over me and any demonic covenants that I made over myself, either with or without my consent, I break and deny them in Jesus’ Name. I belong to a new covenant of the blood of Jesus Christ.
Any demonic covenants that were spoken over me and any demonic covenants that I spoke over myself, I break and deny them in Jesus’ Name. I belong to a new covenant of the blood of Jesus Christ.
After accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior of your life, you can continue growing your relationship with Him by praying to Him daily, fasting, and reading the Bible.
