In Isaiah 58 God rebuked the Israelites because, although they prayed and fasted, they lived in disobedience.
Praying and fasting are necessary for our spiritual growth, but they only benefit us when we live right.
Before we pray and fast we should take time to examine our hearts and ask the Lord to show us if we’ve done anything to offend Him. When we repent, we can pray to God without any hindrances!
Proverbs 28:9 NIV

John 9:31 NIV
We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly person who does his will.
