In the Bible, Abraham and Moses were friends of God. I believe that was because they had an intimate relationship with God and pleased Him. Moses for example, was a very prayerful man. In spite of his big responsibilities in ministry, He spent a lot of personal time with God! Also Abraham was a man of faith who pleased God by walking in His ways. Those happen to be the common traits I find in people who walk closely with Jesus; they are prayerful, obedient and they trust Him very much (Hebrews 11:6). The disciples of Jesus in the New Testament were also friends of Jesus.

Did you know that you can be God’s friend too? Jesus said in John 15:14: Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. (KJV) The Bible also says that if we draw near to God, He will draw near to us (James 4:8)! That means that a person can become God’s friend by spending time with Him thru prayer and Bible Study, and also living by His teachings in scripture. If you would like to be friends with Jesus, you can start by telling Him: Jesus, I want to be Your friend!
