Have you ever put a wrinkled garment in a clothes dryer? If the temperature is hot enough it takes out all the wrinkles, and makes the garment fresh and hot!
This is very similar to how it is in the spiritual realm. God often irons out our wrinkles, which represent bad traits, by raising the temperature so to speak in our lives. What I mean by that, is God will allow us to face challenging situations which will form us into the man or woman of God He wants us to be. The truth is, when people are too comfortable, their spiritual lives are often lukewarm because they won’t seek God like that. They might give Jesus some attention, but other things will take the majority of their time. When we are under trials, it often pushes us to pray and rely on Christ more. That is when our faith really grows because we experience the faithfulness of Jesus for ourselves. We grow spiritually because we are spending time with God. A christian who does not spend time with The Lord will never see change in their spiritual lives. They will remain a spiritual babe and continue to struggle with the same sins.
What we can learn from that, is to never be comfortable in our relationship with Jesus! We should seek Him all the time because He is a good God, and not wait until something difficult happens to start praying and fasting. The Bible says that a friend loves at all times (Proverbs 17:17), therefore we can also be a friend of Jesus by always seeking fellowship with Him.
1 Chronicles 16:11 NIV
Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.
James 1:2-4 NIV
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
God bless you
