Have you ever spent time with someone you really care about, and had them interrupt that special time to go on the phone or do other tasks? You probably would of preferred that this person gave you time in which they were free from other distractions.
One of the revelations Jesus gave me about this, is that it’s very similar to our personal time with the Lord. Just as I wouldn’t want to schedule plans with someone when they are busy with other things, Jesus also wants us to give Him our undivided attention when we are before His presence. In the Bible we read an example of this in Jesus’ own prayer life.
Mark 1:35 says:
And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
Certainly there are times throughout the day when we may speak to God as we are working and doing things, but it’s also important to give God a portion of our day where we are not distracted by other thoughts or tasks.
This is a good reminder
