In Revelation 2:1-5, Jesus rebuked the church of Ephesus because it had lost the love it once had for Him.
Today many Christians don’t realize that Jesus is no longer first place in their lives. They once had a burning love for God, however, the flame gradually died down.
Maybe you used to pray and read your Bible every day, then little by little you neglected time with God. Maybe you used to fast regularly, but then you stopped. Or maybe you allowed some compromise or worldly influences into your life.
Whichever ways you may have changed, God wants to be first in your life again. He wants His body, the church, to go back to those things it once did to seek Him.
Ask the Holy Spirit to show you any ways you’ve changed and to help you make Jesus first place. He is ready and willing to help you!
Revelation 2:3-5 NIV
You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.
