One thing I remember about playing video games, is when a player is trying to get to higher levels in the game or find treasure, they always have enemies in the game that they must fight. As a player progresses to higher levels, the enemies they fight become stronger and stronger. This is very similar to how it is growing in Christ. You see, God is a very special treasure, and satan doesn’t want anyone to go to heaven or be close to God while they are on earth. satan is much like those little devils in the video games which try to keep one from making progress and getting the prize! This is why you may feel like there is something opposing you every time you try to get serious about Jesus or get closer to Him. This is all very normal and you should not be discouraged by it at all. The devil is doing this to get you to give up!
Some examples of opposition can include difficulty concentrating when praying or reading the Bible, ungodly influences trying to come back into your life, feelings of fear or confusion, discouraging thoughts, unfair treatment from people, rejection from other Christians, feeling sleepy when you read the Bible or pray, and demonic manifestations in dreams. These are only a few examples, but what we need to keep in mind is that Jesus is infinitely more powerful than the devil! While God allows satan to oppose us for a time, the victory will come if we will keep going.
Fellow Christians, continue growing in God! Keep praying, fasting, and studying His Word. God will help you to overcome! If you are experiencing high levels of opposition, I suggest going into a fast and praying in scripture often. Also, worshiping God is a powerful way to fight opposition (2 Chronicles 20:21-22). We should praise and worship Jesus not only when things are going well, but also when we are experiencing difficulties.
