In Matthew 26:32-46, Peter was confident that he would stay faithful to Christ until death. Peter didn’t obey Jesus’ instructions to pray, however, and he denied Christ in a time of trial and persecution (Matt. 26:69-75).
Our spirit might be willing, but our flesh is weak without the power of the Holy Spirit. We need to pray continually against deception and backsliding so we will remain firm in the faith!
Let’s take heed to Jesus’ word by praying, fasting, and depending on Him all the way through.
Matthew 26:41 NIV
“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
