Jeremiah 38:14-15 NIV
Then King Zedekiah sent for Jeremiah the prophet and had him brought to the third entrance to the temple of the Lord. “I am going to ask you something,” the king said to Jeremiah. “Do not hide anything from me.” Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, “If I give you an answer, will you not kill me? Even if I did give you counsel, you would not listen to me.”
In Jeremiah 38:14-28, King Zedekiah summoned the prophet Jeremiah to share counsel from the Lord. After Jeremiah told Zedekiah what God said, Zedekiah refused to obey the counsel and suffered terrible consequences.
Zedekiah reminds me of many people today who claim to want to know God’s will, but if they don’t like it, they reject it even if they know it’s right.
Don’t be like King Zedekiah. If you know God is convicting you to do something, obey God. Refusing to listen will only bring you trouble.
If God convicts you to do something that feels difficult, pray and fast for Him to help you.
Proverbs 29:1 NIV
Whoever remains stiff-necked after many rebukes will suddenly be destroyed—without remedy.
