“(for you shall worship no other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God),” (Exodus‬ ‭34:14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

There are many instances in the Bible where God’s chosen people turned away from Him to worship idols/false gods. Most of us also do this today. We say Jesus is first in our lives and pray to Him, but have given other things the place of God in our heart.

Is there something or someone you feel you can’t live without? Is there something you must have or achieve before you can be happy with your life? For example, a degree, success, marriage, material possession or etc? Maybe what you desire is not bad, but the worship (obsessive admiration) of it is idolatry.

If you are struggling with idolatry, repent and ask Jesus to consume your heart with love for Him. If you continue to struggle, take time to fast and pray until you are free from this sin. Jesus is faithful and will help you if you cry out to Him.

“Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites,”
‭‭(I Corinthians‬ ‭6:9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)
