Many times in my walk with Jesus, I have experienced deep discouragement for not reflecting Christ the way that I should. I would strongly desire to walk in all the ways of The Lord, but become very disheartened when I fall short, even to the point of wanting to give up at times! What I have to be reminded of, is that God changes us step by step. As long as we continue to do our part to seek the Lord and do the best we can to live by His Word, The Holy Spirit will do His part in us to make us more like Jesus.
Also, there are some weaknesses in us that may require more work on our end to be delivered from. It may require lots of fasting for example, and pressing into God in order to see change. For me this has been the case with particular areas I have struggled with such as pride and anger. While I have not yet arrived, I can say Jesus has helped me to make lots of progress in comparison to how I used to be.
One of the promises of God in the Bible which has brought me great encouragement is in Mathew 5:6: Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. (KJV)
If you struggle in this area, I pray that God will encourage you and give you strength to continue pressing on. Please pray for me as well! God bless you! -Jolie J. Harris
